Yiwu sourcing overview: one operator, seven buildings, and what we check
Yiwu is a county-level city in central Zhejiang built around a wholesale system run by a single listed operator. This hub page covers the city, the seven market buildings, the trip patterns buyers use, and where this site's records stop.
The city behind the market
Yiwu covers 1,105 square kilometres and administers six towns and seven subdistricts, per the official city profile published on the Yiwu Fair site. Its registered population is about 740,000, while long-term migrant residents number 1.433 million and roughly 13,000 foreign merchants live in the city year-round.
That resident foreign community is the practical difference between Yiwu and a purely domestic wholesale city: freight agents, translation services, restaurants and payment services catering to overseas buyers cluster around the market blocks, and much of the export trade is negotiated in English, Arabic or Russian rather than in Chinese.
What the seven buildings cover
The Trade City system (International Trade City Districts 1 to 5) plus the International Production Materials Market are run by Zhejiang China Commodities City Group, listed in Shanghai under 600415. Operator figures put the districts at more than 10,000, 8,000, 6,000, 16,000 and 7,000 booths respectively, and the production materials market at more than 4,200.
Huangyuan Clothing Market, in the old town's Xiuhu commercial district, is the clothing building. Each market page on this site carries its own floor plan summary, figures and sources.
How buyers usually plan it
Buyers who know their categories do one building in depth per day; buyers covering several categories spread across two days and add the production materials market or Huangyuan depending on the goods. Our district-by-district guide sets out both patterns.
Increasingly, buyers never fly at all: remote sourcing through the operator's platform or through agents covers most repeat orders. The remote sourcing page describes the channels, the checks that work over video, and the fee models.
Where this site's records stop

City and market figures come from the official pages cited above and were checked on 2026-10-27. We do not publish booth-level pricing, negotiated quotes, or trade volumes that no official source states.
